The Bodolus Boys

Dave Bodolus started his 8th season as the head coach at Daniel Boone with a familiar face behind center...one he had known since birth. His son Tommy, who played wide receiver and defensive back as a sophomore, was now his quarterback. Following the likes of Bokosky, Smith, and Monteiro...some pretty heavy company. Guys who led the Blazers to winning records, league championships, and district playoffs. But his son was waiting for this moment for a long time....ever since being a ball boy for the St. Pius Winged Lions, when his father had a successful tenure there. He had listened carefully during staff meetings, watched intently to practices, and paid close attention to game plans. Young Tommy was preparing for this season for several years, and that preparation definately paid off.

Tommy and Dave Bodolus

"He knows what has to be done," said the elder Bodolus, "and I think he's ready."

"Playing wideout last year helped me see coverages, and will help me read them while making my progressions," said the younger Bolodus, "and we're really excited about the upcoming season. We don't have a superstar...just a bunch of pretty good players."

Pretty good players all right...good enough to win a school record 11 games against only two defeats. Good enough to win the I-C League title...good enough to make the District 3 AAAA playoffs, and win two games, one against heavily favored Harrisburg High, who many thought would win the state crown.

"Tommy is a football player," said his father, "not just a quarterback or a D-Back." He certainly is!
